Common questions

Sod Installation FAQ

01.What's the difference between sod and seeding?+
Sod gives you an instant established lawn — ready to use in a few weeks once roots take hold. Seeding is cheaper but takes a full growing season to fill in and requires more active maintenance early on. We'll recommend the right approach based on your timeline and budget.
02.When is the best time to install sod?+
Spring and early fall are the ideal windows in Pennsylvania — temperatures are moderate and root establishment is fastest. Sod can be installed in summer, but requires more aggressive watering to succeed.
03.How do I care for new sod after install?+
The first two weeks are critical — the sod needs to stay consistently moist while the roots establish. We provide a written watering schedule for your specific install. After the roots take hold, you transition to normal mowing and watering routines.
04.Do you handle the grading as part of sod installation?+
Yes. Proper grading is part of every sod install — we don't just lay sod on top of whatever's there. Low spots, poor drainage, and uneven surfaces are addressed during site prep so the final result looks and performs correctly.
